Splash Program Volunteer Teacher

Spring 2018 & Fall 2019

Clark University’s Splash event offers a full day of classes taught by Clark students to local students in grades 5-12. We believe that by giving students the opportunity and freedom to take classes outside of the traditional K-12 curriculum, they will become more curious, motivated, and engaged learners as they kindle new and old passions.
As a volunteer instructor and class leader, I designed two different classes, one on black holes and imaging them; and one on stars and galaxies.

Latino STEM Alliance

Spring 2019

Latino STEM Alliance partners with schools and community organizations to address the challenge through inspiration—helping children imagine themselves in STEM fields—and empowerment—giving children access to hands-on STEM learning.
I participated in this alliance’s annual Robotics Competition and Family Science Festival. I designed and presented physics demos in English and Spanish for the attendees.

Spring 2019

The Cambridge Science Festival, is a celebration showcasing the leading edge in science, technology, engineering, art, and math.  A multifaceted, multicultural event, the Festival makes science accessible, interactive and fun, highlighting the impact of STEAM in all our lives.
As a participant, I organized the volunteer-ran stand at the festival, setup physics demos and wrote informative cards to explain the phenomena behind them.

Volunteer lab leader for “Eureka!”, a year-round, five-year STEM intensive program that engages and empowers 8th-12th grade girls as they develop confidence and discover leadership and academic opportunities in STEM fields. As a summer volunteer, I planned and executed four lab sessions on the physics of waves, light and optics.
